Alternative Fuel/Electricity Safety

Carbon monoxide is an odorless, colorless gas that can cause sudden illness and death if inhaled. When power outages occur during natural disasters and other emergencies, the use of alternative sources of fuel or electricity for heating or cooking can cause CO to build up in a home, garage, or camper and to poison the people and animals inside.

Deaf and Hard of Hearing Helpline: (502) 319-2457

The Kentucky Commission for the Deaf and Hard of Hearing (KCDHH) has established line of communication for the deaf community: (502) 319-2457 can be reached by text or FaceTime. The number can be given directly to a Deaf or Hard of Hearing individual. They can use text if hard of hearing or do not sign. If they sign, the number also connects them to FaceTime to an individual who is Deaf and uses American Sign Language (ASL). For more information from the KCDHH, visit their website at https://www.kcdhh.ky.gov/.
